LInkedIn/Facebook - Moan & Rant
I work in marketing so I have to have LinkedIn and Facebook accounts. Here's a few things that are ticking me off right now.

1. People on Facebook who have birthdays and ask you to make a contribution to a cause. "I wasn't going to send you a card or give you a present so ... no I won't contribute to your cause."

2. Arselickers on LInkedIn who consistently post positive shit about the last trade show they went to or the company food bank outing. Work is overated and anybody who wouldn't give it up immediately after winning the lottery is a wanker or a liar.

3. People's profiles on LInkedIn that exaggerate the heck out of what they did. "Played a pivotal role in making company more efficient." Which means moving their desk closer to the break room."

4. People who post stupid sayings with a colored background about being positive on Facebook.

5. People who post political opinions on Facebook.
Really, who gives a shit!

6. People on LinkedIn who"like" companies like Salesforce.

6.This trend of re-posting missing persons alert.

We just lost 4-0 to Oxford, and the thing pissing you off the most are a few gimps on facebook?

Re: LInkedIn/Facebook - Moan & Rant

Then stop using facebook.

I had it for about a month years ago, which is all it took to realise what a load of cunt it is.

You don't like Salesforce? What a heartless bastard...

Eerie -

Like you, I was on it for a week years ago. But you don't need to be on FB, Twatter or Instagram to know that it's full of cunts. You can smell its stench from miles away.

I like WHO. It's a bunch of miserable bastards telling it like it is.

Facebook is just another tool. I use it like an address book. It's easy to unfollow people who post trivial shit and still keep them as a contact.

You can tell who the really sad bastards are in life because they’re very active on Facebook. It’s for peasants and soppy suburban people in their sixties

I'd agree with (1) to (4) and both (6)'s.

As for politics, I do at times. Occasionally on Brexit, but right now far more on the situation in my adopted hometown (Hong Kong). People who know me outside of cyberspace know what I'm like anyway. Though most of the "heavier" political stuff I tend to leave for a couple of Groups I'm in.

But let me add to hates:
people who make lists; and,
people who fuck up their numbering on lists (swtoc)

Far East Hammer 5:05 Thu Sep 26
Re: LInkedIn/Facebook - Moan & Rant
Actually, I'd add to the hates:

People who post personal gumpf or political stuff on LinkedIn, i.e. those who clearly don't understand the difference between LI & FB

I know its WHO so I should just slag off the original post but I cant help but think it's all spot on. Fortunately I dont have ti use Facebook so I dont. LinkedIN is just one massive virtual signal though, a colossal cringe

Re: LInkedIn/Facebook - Moan & Rant
I am on Facebook but I seem to use it in a different way to most.

I have almost no 'friends' and those I do are like me and probably post an average of twice a year each.

IU am signed up to lots of groups about things that interest me, e.g WHU, guitars, bands, sheds etc.

This seems to work well as I never see any of the crap that others moan about.

Linkedin is to build up useful contacts in case I need a job. Don't actually look at it.

"WHU, guitars, bands, sheds"

Sheds?

I'm guessing that you're a man of a 'certain age'.

I like a shed myself. Start worrying when sheds are first on the list.

Haha my dad has four sheds and it’s fair to say he spends the majority of his time in then

I use both as contact databases. In both cases business. If I want to chat with friends and family I do that.

Ha ha. I added sheds on there mainly for Nurse's benefit, who always has me pegged as keen shed fancier.

Re: LInkedIn/Facebook - Moan & Rant
I'm on both for work, not with a personal profile.

LinkedIn is utter crap but people seem to think they have to be on it for progression. Absolute bollocks. As said before, virtue signalling and arse-licking is all it is about. It amuses me when someone I know (not necessarily like) loses a decent job, takes a lesser one, but doesn't update their profile, or updates it to 'Formerly Director at...'

Facebook is a good marketing tool because it's tentacles are everywhere and reaching customers/potential customers is easy. The amount of shit on there is phenomenal and wading through it to find anything worthwhile is draining.

The thing that surprises me most is the amount of and quality of crap posted by my actual friends and family, people I actually know. They seemed normal before and now I think they're a bit weird.
